Bitnodes is an online service that estimates the size of the Bitcoin peer‑to‑peer network by discovering reachable (and some unreachable) nodes worldwide.
It continuously crawls the network using Bitcoin protocol messages to find and track active nodes.
The site shows live statistics such as total node count, distribution by country, and breakdown by IPv4, IPv6, and .onion nodes.
Interactive charts and maps visualize how Bitcoin nodes are distributed and how the network changes over time.
Bitnodes also exposes an API that developers can use to query current and historical node data programmatically.
